Sound of Football Podcast 470 - A whole new ball game

A charity match at Spennymoor Town this weekend, organised by charity Head For Change, tested two new rules designed to protect the long term health of players. The first half restricted heading the ball to penalty areas only, while the second half prohibited heading completely.

As the danger of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in football becomes clearer, could either of these options be the future of the game? How many other laws would need to be altered to keep the game as the spectacle it is now? Would a ban on heading alter the game so much that it would effectively become a different sport?
