Has it really been 10 years since the infamous Game 39 was first mooted by the Premier League? Memories of the aborted plan to play an extra league fixture in far-flung corner of the world, have been rekindled following the announcement that La Liga will be taking selected regular league fixtures across the the Atlantic, sometime in the near future.
The practice of moving a team's home fixture to a different country as a PR exercise is nothing new to the NFL, who have been coming to London since 2007 and are scheduled to stage three matches in the capital this autumn. So is it more of a surprise that this hasn't happened sooner?
