Sound of Football Podcast 311 - The kids are alright
When the England Under 17s lost the final of their Euros on penalties back in May few would have thought it would be the start of an incredible summer for England's youth teams. In June, a squad made up largely of the U18s won the Toulon Tournament, this was eclipsed in the same month by the U20s winning their World Cup in South Korea. July saw the U19s return from Georgia as European Champions. Last weekend the U17s bounced back from that Euros defeat to add their World Cup to an already unprecedented haul of silverware.
While it is a time for celebration the subject of what opportunities will be available in club football for these players is never far from the back pages. Will more players like Jadon Sancho look abroad for their chance of top level first team football?
Terry, Graham and Jan look at the prospects for England's fledgling talent and what, if anything, it means for the future of the senior side.
