Sound of Football Podcast 277 - Standing safe

At the start of this season a section of seating at Celtic Park was converted to safe standing. A block of 3,000 of the 60,000 seats in the stadium can now be converted to an area of terracing in competitions that allow it. The possibility of reintroducing standing at top flight games in Britain has a lot of support among fans groups. For clubs, there are obvious advantages: the capacity at Borussia Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park increases by over 15,000 when safe standing is in operation.

Premier League clubs are already looking at Celtic's experience, as well as a number of extremely successful implementations in the Bundesliga but will need to overturn legislation before being able to install safe standing themselves.

Graham, Terry and Jan discuss the issues involved in a reintroduction of standing to the Premier League, and the likelihood of whether or not it will happen in the foreseeable future.
