Sound of Football Podcast 269 - Modern rivalries

From the media frenzy surrounding last weekend's Manchester derby, you may have been forgiven for expecting a modern day Rumble in the Jungle. The first Premier League meeting of managerial mega-stars Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho was given the billing of an encounter that would live long in the memories of those with even only a passing interest in the game.

As it was, it was pretty much like every other early season encounter between two teams with realistic title ambitions. A decent enough watch but in real terms hardly indicative of where either side will finish in the table.

This week Graham, Terry and Jan discuss the explosion and the intensity of modern day rivalries be they local derbies (or not so local), managerial duels and even that most arbitrary of all contests, the Ballon D'Or.

Are there any real feuds in football or is it just a load of media-stoked pantomime bantz (or "pantz" for short)?
