Sound of Football Podcast 126 - Rethinking the football board-game

In the old days before computers and the internet, games based on football bore little relation to anything we understand about the game. They looked a bit familiar - maybe Alan Ball would be on the box extolling its virtues - but even the flick-to-kick version provided little more than a tarted-up version of marbles.

Of course now, video games have removed the requirements to make the leaps of imagination involved in converting the throwing of dice and reading of cards to the beautiful game but can we in the 21st century succeed in creating a modern football board-game where our counterparts in the 1960s failed?

No challenge is too great for The Sound of Football Podcast.
